Dear Residents,
In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday it makes me reflect on
things for that I am grateful. One thing that I really appreciate
is when I hear about all the good things happening at the
Lemont Park District from local residents. Whether it’s how
much someone is enjoying the Preschool program or how
great The CORE Fitness & Aquatic Complex is, I am
constantly approached with positive comments.
I also find myself very thankful for being able to assist the
great community of Lemont regarding their leisure and
recreational needs. This past October the District was very
pleased to unveil a brand new Preschool Playground located
near Centennial Community Center. This much anticipated
play area was able to come to fruition with the help from a
local resident donation.
With a variety of fun programs and exciting events offered
throughout the Winter and Spring, residents are sure to find
something of interest. Back by popular demand, the Frigid 5K
will kick off at 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 18th. Runners of
all ages, shapes and sizes will bundle up and make their way
through a brisk Centennial Campus! Our annual Breakfast
with Santa will follow this event at Centennial Community
Center.
There doesn’t seem to be a day that goes by when I don’t
hear about The CORE and all it’s offerings. Opened two years
this December, the facility continues to exceed expectations
and for that, I am extremely grateful. Currently the
membership base is over 3,000 not including an
extraordinary amount of weekly guests and visitors. Not only
do members come to The CORE to get their workout in,
guests flock to The CORE for FREE Family Fun Nights, the
much-loved H2O Egg-venture, Daddy Daughter Date Night
and Mom & Son Night. Youth Basketball leagues, over 60
fitness classes per week, Dolphin Swim meets, and much
more all take place at the center of The Lemont Park District –
The CORE.
In closing I would like to mention a 23 year-old resident that
really stands out as I reflect on all the positive feedback. This
young man contacted the Lemont Park District CORE staff to
express his gratitude for the facility. After struggling with his
weight for several years, he made a goal and stuck to it;
working out many hours at The CORE enabled him to lose
over 100 lbs. He felt comfortable and taken care of and really
loves the equipment and the center as a whole. What a great
achievement. With that in mind, it’s time for us to THANK our
CORE Members. We are pleased to announce CORE
Rewards – Member’s Only Benefits. This special program has
been designed to show our appreciation to CORE Members
by offering them such perks as special fitness program
discounts, premium guest pass pricing and refer-a-friend
bonuses. Visit LemontParkDistrict.org or contact The CORE
front desk for more information on CORE Rewards.
Thank you once again for letting me be of service to you and I
look forward to a bright new year!
On Behalf of the Lemont Park Board,
Patrick Sexton, President
At the CORE of the Community since 1966
